The MBTI® Library
CAPT houses the Isabel Briggs Myers Memorial Library, which
is open to visitors during CAPT's normal business hours. We
have many, but not all, of the items on the CAPT Bibliography.
The library's ever-growing holdings currently include over 1100 dissertations; 2000 articles and papers; 800 books; type associations newsletters from North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand; hundreds of conference proceedings; and thousands of audio and video tapes.
Most of the holdings in the Library were purchased by Mary
McCaulley, Ph.D., over the years or were donated by the authors.
Occasionally there have been large donations from individuals
or groups. Journey Into Wholeness donated the entire set of
Jung's Collected Works in 1986; CPP, Inc. donated money to buy dissertations in 1986; the family
of Ruth Sherman designated the CAPT Library for memorial gifts
when she died in 1996. Thanks to a generous grant from the
Myers & Briggs Foundation in 1999, CAPT was able to purchase
212 dissertations, a computer, and software. The Library also
benefits from the generosity of authors and publishers who
donate copies of new works. Authors and distributors of MBTI®
versions in other languages have donated materials as well.
CAPT welcomes donations to the Library. If you have purchased
any MBTI® dissertations or theses for your own research, and
they are now just "taking up space" on your shelf, we would
happily accept them for the CAPT Library. We also have dissertations
on our "wish list" that we plan to purchase as funds are available.
Donations to CAPT are tax-deductible.
We also appreciate donations of used materials such as books,
manuals, tapes, and back issues of newsletters and the Journal
of Psychological Type®. Having extra copies allows us to
pass them on to MBTI® users or libraries in other countries
who may not be able to afford them otherwise. As a service
to people who cannot visit the CAPT Library, we make copies
of certain materials, which are then mailed or faxed to the
recipient at a reasonable fee.
